We are looking for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to implement our company’s strategies into daily operations and keep us on track to meeting our long-term business goals. This role will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will be a key player in our organization’s decision making and strategic planning. To thrive in this role, you should have strong leadership skills and the ability to solve problems in a creative way. Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CEO to set and drive organizational vision and operations strategy
  • Develop sound business strategies that reflect the short-term and long-term goals of the business
  • Translate the company strategy into actionable steps 
  • Set smart and comprehensive goals for performance and growth
  • Establish policies that promote the company culture and vision
  • Plan, develop, implement, and direct the organization’s operational and fiscal function
  • Guide the marketing team on the design and implementation of effective promotion and marketing programs
  • Evaluate strategic investment opportunities and potential M&A to unlock value for the organization
  • Implement organization-wide performance management and annual operations planning
  • Oversee operations and employee productivity
  • Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process enhancement
  • Build a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive while meeting organizational goals
  • Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, performance management, professional development, and retention
  • Manage relationships with partners and vendors
  • Represent the organization at industry and community events

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, education, or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in the education or technology industries
  • 4+ years of experience in a leadership role
  • Experience in an edtech organization 
  • Experience in strategic planning and business development
  • Experience in fundraising
  • Knowledge of business functions such as HR, finance, and marketing
  • Knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics
  • Knowledge of IT and business infrastructure
  • Knowledge of advanced business planning and regulatory issues
  • Knowledge of P&L and managing and scaling a business
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong business acumen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a business-related field
  • Experience with international business
