Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply business processes to new or existing functionality to better align with user needs
  • Learn business change requirements and assess the impact of those changes
  • Capture, analyze, and document requirements 
  • Communicate and deliver requirements to IT teams and appropriate stakeholders
  • Gather data and conduct research to identify current industry trends and competitor activities
  • Engage the market through advisory groups, professional organizations, surveys, and interviews
  • Analyze market trends and needs, sizing, segmentation, and buyer personas
  • Develop business cases in support of new and existing segment opportunities
  • Assist with product strategy and content roadmap to meet current and future user and business needs
  • Provide functional and technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems that meet user requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, management, or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a business analyst
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience with help desk software and customer service
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of International Institute of Business Analysis’ business analysis body of knowledge (BABOK)
  • Knowledge of UX design best practices
  • Knowledge of agile software development processes
  • Knowledge of system development life cycle processes, including planning, analysis, design, development, and testing
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Business analyst certification, such as ECBA, CCBA, or CBAP
  • Experience in a K-12 environment or higher education
