We are seeking a talented software engineer with a strong background in backend engineering. This role will own and shape the API and backend services from end to end, ensuring they meet high standards of performance and reliability. They will work closely with the product and UX engineering teams, with the goal of seamless cohesion between different aspects of our products. Along with contributing significantly to planning and technical design, the role will identify opportunities to innovate and improve our practices. Our ideal candidate will have both a keen understanding of user experience and the technical expertise to engage in hands-on coding work. 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain backend services and APIs
  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain highly resilient and scalable systems
  • Create high-quality, efficient, and reliable code
  • Optimize performance of backend systems for handling large data volumes
  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging for prompt resolution of software defects
  • Diagnose performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations
  • Investigate and solve issues to improve the customer experience
  • Contribute to code reviews, architectural decisions, and system design
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies in fintech and backend development

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineer, preferably in the fintech industry
  • Experience in functional programming
  • Experience building APIs and backend services
  • Experience with Java, Kotlin, or a similar object oriented language
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as C#, Scala, and Go
  • Proficiency with SQL and expertise in database schema design
  • Knowledge of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of crypto concepts such as blockchains, RPCs, and self custody wallets
