Our company is seeking an expert in cryptocurrency with experience in banking or financial investigation to serve as our new Cryptocurrency Specialist. The ideal candidate will be a tech-savvy analyst with data processing skills who wants to develop their skills further by initiating analysis on unique data sets. To succeed in this role, you should have a keen understanding of virtual currencies, cryptocurrency exchanges, digital assets, and payment service providers. 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uncover leads in large data sets
  • Explore acquired data for intelligence
  • Build technical tools and processes to improve our overall operational effectiveness
  • Design, develop, and implement smart contracts, blockchain applications, and cryptocurrency solutions
  • Identify policy and product issues related to cryptocurrency activity 
  • Detect potentially suspicious activity through multiple platforms and jurisdictions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain blockchain-based projects
  • Optimize cryptocurrency solutions for maximum security, efficiency, and scalability
  • Research and review current and emerging trends in cryptocurrency and other digital assets
  • Deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders regarding current and emerging trends and threats related to cryptocurrency

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, business, finance, or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience tracing cryptocurrency transactions, including asset flow, IP addresses, and wallet software
  • Experience in crypto-specific investigative work
  • Experience with blockchain platforms such as Ethereum, Solana, or Binance Smart Chain
  • Experience with blockchain explorers such as Chainalysis Reactor, TRM, or CipherTrace, as well as open source blockchain explorers
  • Knowledge of decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, token standards, and smart contract security best practices
  • Knowledge of risk patterns and risk mitigation techniques
  • Knowledge of cryptocurrency mining
  • Knowledge of ACH and SWIFT messaging 
  • Knowledge of payment service providers such as Paypal or Payoneer
  • Knowledge of blockchains
  • Knowledge of peer-to-peer transactions and OTC traders
  • Knowledge of cryptocurrency laundering methods 
  • Knowledge of federal regulations and governing bodies related to cryptocurrency
  • Exceptional research and analytical skills 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Cryptocurrency Expert (CCE) certification
