We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to keep our database up and running smoothly 24/7. The primary goal of this role will be to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the organization. They will be responsible for maintaining both the backend data structure and the frontend accessibility for end-users. Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain database systems
  • Monitor and tune database performance and apply new patches and versions when required
  • Define users and enable data distribution
  • Ensure data security and integrity, including implementation of access controls, backups, and recovery plans
  • Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
  • Develop and maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for data elements
  • Identify and implement database requirements for new or existing applications
  • Optimize database performance and efficiency 
  • Resolve data-related technical issues and troubleshooting queries
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training
  • Perform database maintenance tasks, including database defragmentation, backups, and database replication
  • Execute disaster recovery plans and procedures to ensure database availability 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in database administration or a similar role
  • Experience in database backup, disaster recovery planning, performance optimization, and data security 
  • Experience with DBA case tools and third party tools
  • Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments
  • Experience with PowerShell and Unix shell scripting
  • Knowledge of database design, documentation, and coding
  • Knowledge of database management systems such as MySQL or Oracle
  • Knowledge of database automation tools
  • Knowledge of relational and dimensional data modeling
  • Familiarity with programming languages API
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant professional certification, such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
  • Experience in cloud technologies
  • Proficiency with a scripting language such as Python or Perl for database automation
