We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to drive our technological vision and execution. Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading and scaling engineering teams, fostering collaboration, and aligning technical efforts with broader business objectives. 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain diverse technical talent
  • Build and manage high-performing teams with an emphasis on collaboration and growth
  • Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to meet goals
  • Oversee roadmap prioritization, project estimates, product development progress, launch plans, and overall product maintenance
  • Lead the design of critical and high-impact components and systems
  • Optimize engineering solutions for scalability, performance, and reliability
  • Set technical goals aligned with business objectives
  • Develop key performance indicators in collaboration with engineering and product management leaders
  • Conduct in-depth technical reviews, providing feedback on architecture, design, and code quality 
  • Manage the operational tech stack and personnel budgets
  • Monitor and validate backlog and fee projections on an ongoing basis
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends and proactively identify opportunities for improvement, automation, and optimization

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field

Required Skills and Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in product development, software engineering, or UX engineering
  • 5+ years of experience managing technical teams
  • Experience leading and delivering complex projects from conception to production 
  • Experience with AWS or relevant cloud technologies
  • Experience with DevOps and DevSecOps practices and tools
  • Experience with containerization technologies
  • Experience managing budgets 
  • Proficiency with Git and JIRA
  • Thorough knowledge of software architecture, design principles, and best practices
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies
  • Knowledge of financial technology and payment systems
